PA Couple Files Shoulder Pain Pump Lawsuit
Glen and Angela Gore are among the newest plaintiffs in the ever-mounting number of personal injury lawsuits being filed against the Stryker Corp. To date, Stryker has paid tens of millions of dollars to patients who have developed irreversible shoulder damage after using their shoulder pain pumps.
The
Gore's legal claim, which was first filed in July 2009 and is still pending,
claims that use of the shoulder pain pump resulted in serious injury and damage
to the shoulder joint. This comes as no surprise as shoulder pain pumps have
been proven in numerous studies to raise the risk of developing
postarthroscopic glenohumeral chondrolysis (PAGCL). PAGCL is an incurable
condition in which deterioration of the shoulder's cartilage results in limited
range of motion, pain and weakness of the shoulder joint.
Brand
names of shoulder pain pumps that have been reported to cause PAGCL include:
- Donjoy shoulder pain
pumps, produced by Donjoy, Inc.
- On-Q pain pump,
produced by I-Flow Pharmaceuticals
- Stryker pain pump,
produced by the Stryker Corp.
Like
the Gores, anyone who has developed PAGCL or other shoulder injuries after
using an i-Flow pump or any kind of shoulder pain pump should seek immediate
medical attention to prevent further irreversible injuries. In most cases,
replacement surgery will be necessary.
After
undergoing replacement surgery and getting the necessary treatment, injured
patients should also consult an experienced shoulder pain pump lawyer to learn
more about his or her legal rights. Injured patients may be entitled to a
settlement for their injuries and losses by pursuing a shoulder pain pump
lawsuit.
